Regulatory, CSA Z662 and ASME B31.3 Code Requirements
Three Day Course (2.4 CEUs)
Objectives
This is a combined course to provide a basic understanding of the regulatory/jurisdictional requirements around pipelines and piping. Code requirements for fabrication, inspection, and testing in accordance with CSA Z662 and ASME B31.3 for new construction, post construction repairs, and maintenance work will be presented, as well as discussion around the differences between CSA Z662 and ASME B31.3. There will be an introduction to CSA Z662 and ASME B31.3 design considerations, CSA, ASTM, and API material standards, and CSA and ASME Section IX welding qualifications. An important part of achieving these objectives is to understand the jurisdictional requirements such as the provincial pipeline acts and regulations. The jurisdictional boundaries between ABSA and AER and other provincial jurisdictional authorities will be discussed. Practical field examples will be discussed.
