Condition Based Monitoring
Acuren’s team of reliability engineers and technicians are specialists in the condition based monitoring and maintenance field with decades of experience.
Condition-based monitoring (CBM), or condition-based maintenance, is a maintenance approach, usually applied to essential, critical assets and equipment. It is based on the principle of using real-time data to prioritize and optimize maintenance activities. Unlike preventive maintenance, which requires scheduled downtime, most CBM activities can take place during normal operations. This is because CBM, as the name suggests, monitors the conditions of operations and uses them to draw conclusions about potential faults within the equipment.
Because condition-based monitoring techniques are aimed at resolving issues before they halt production, transitioning to CBM can result in significant savings and help any facility stay on schedule for essential productions. This benefit has put condition-based monitoring companies in high demand, and Acuren’s experienced reliability engineers and technicians are prepared to help your business with comprehensive condition-based monitoring services.
Our CBM Services
Acuren’s team of reliability technicians and engineers specialize in the condition-based monitoring and maintenance field with decades of experience. As the leader of condition-based monitoring companies, we provide a comprehensive suite of techniques that have value on their own and when used simultaneously. Your equipment and assets could benefit from the following Acuren services:
- Vibration Analysis: This service monitors the vibration in a piece of equipment to determine imbalances, misalignments, mechanical looseness and similar defects. It’s generally best used in combination with infrared thermography and airborne ultrasound in a process called Predictive Maintenance (PdM).
- Infrared Thermography: The equipment we use for infrared thermography can detect heat signatures and changes in temperature, which lets us make sure that the equipment is working within acceptable temperature parameters. It can detect concerns with fuses, loose electrical connections, breakers and heater coils.
- Lubrication Analysis: This analysis involves taking a sample of oil, grease or whatever lubrication your equipment uses and determining whether it is contaminated or dirty. It tells you if you should replace your lubrication to prevent recurring system failures.
- Motor Current Evaluation (MCE): MCE measures how well currents flow through a motor, usually in generators. A fault in the current can point to issues with the power quality or circuit, insulation, air gap, stator or rotor.
- Ultrasound: Similar to a medical ultrasound, this service uses high-frequency sounds to measure and assess equipment. It is most effective at detecting leaks, faulty valves and pressure imbalances.
