Bringing Deeper Welding Knowledge to the Engineering and Lab Team

“Who’s the new person?”

If you’ve heard that question around Acuren’s Edmonton office lately, we have your answer. We’re excited to welcome Suzanne Brassard, P.Eng., to our Engineering & Lab Team in Alberta. With two decades of experience in materials engineering and welding, Suzanne brings a wealth of specialized knowledge that’s already enhancing the support we provide to clients across Western Canada.

A Strong Foundation in Materials Engineering

Suzanne is a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA, with 20 years of hands-on experience in a variety of industries. She began her career in quality assurance and control within the industrial construction space, gaining crucial insights into the realities of welding inspection in the field. From there, she expanded her expertise into maintenance and shutdown welding—environments where precision and adaptability are essential.

As her career progressed, Suzanne transitioned into failure analysis, inspection, and both destructive and non-destructive testing. This phase of her journey solidified her understanding of what can go wrong without proper welding procedures in place—and why robust welding engineering is critical to safety, performance, and compliance.

Seven years ago, she made welding her primary focus. Since then, Suzanne has become deeply versed in the intricacies of welding procedure development, particularly in areas most professionals don’t have the time to explore. She brings in-depth knowledge of:

  • ASME Section IX
  • Welding portions of B31.3, ASME Section VIII
  • CSA Z662

She also holds certifications as an ABSA-accredited Welding Examiner and a CWB Level 2 Welding Inspector.

How Suzanne Supports Our Clients

Suzanne’s addition to the team significantly broadens Acuren’s capabilities when it comes to welding-related services. Here’s how she’s already making an impact:

  • Welding Procedure Development for ASME Section IX applications (including Sections I, VIII, B31.1, and B31.3)
  • CSA Z662 Procedure Development, including support for in-service welding
  • Development for a wide range of materials: carbon and low alloy steels, stainless steels, nickel alloys, and aluminium alloys
  • Procedure Reviews to identify and close compliance or performance gaps
  • Project-Specific Support, helping clients ensure procedures are suited to their unique applications
  • Welder Performance Testing to ASME IX and CSA Z662

Conclusion

With Suzanne on board, Acuren continues to strengthen its commitment to technical excellence, practical problem-solving, and unmatched client support.
