Pipeline and Pressure Piping Requirements – Regulatory, CSA Z662, and ASME B31.3
Three Day Course
Objectives
Increase awareness of the relevant codes, legislation, regulations, and good practices relevant to pipelines and pressure piping. The content is based on the legislation requirements of Alberta, CSA Z662, CSA B51, ASME B31.3. While primarily focused on Alberta requirements, some content is relevant to British Columbia and Saskatchewan jurisdictions is included.
This seminar provides an understanding of the regulatory/jurisdictional requirements regarding pipelines and pressure piping from a more technical perspective. Code requirements for fabrication, inspection, and testing in accordance with CSA Z662 and ASME B31.3 for new construction, post construction repairs, and maintenance work will be presented, as well as discussions to provide clarity regarding the application of CSA Z662 and ASME B31.3. Practical field examples will be discussed.
Major topics include:
- Process Safety
- Drawings
- ASME Codes
- Specifications
- Due Diligence
- Inspection/Investigations
- Welding/Joining
- Integrity Management
- Over-Pressure Protection
- Legislation
- Construction Practices
- Materials
- Regulators
- Design Registration
- Pressure Testing
- Stakeholder Responsibilities
- Design Considerations
- Documentation
Course presentation materials will be provided to all participants. Attendees will benefit from bringing a valid copy of the B31.3 code and CSA Z662 standard to the course but it is not mandatory.
Benefits of Training with Acuren
Acuren’s expert instructors provide many years of combined hands-on field-based experience relevant to the design, fabrication, and operation of pipelines, facilities, and pressure equipment. Their experience includes specializations in integrity management, failure investigation/analysis, material sciences, standards, jurisdictional requirements, industry best practices, industry code development, and competency programs. As a result, seminars go beyond a basic awareness of the codes of construction—attendees also increase their competencies in technical and practical areas.
