Home Success Stories Acuren Helps American Paleo Find and Preserve FossilsAcuren Helps American Paleo Find and Preserve Fossils
Acuren’s experts partnered with Ohio’s American Paleo to find and preserve fossils using computed radiography (CR). Acuren was contacted by Dan Cooper, president of American Paleo. He had formerly worked in the aerospace industry in a previous career and was aware of the technology and opportunities that NDT could provide.
Acuren was tasked with radiographing soft shale, calcite and pyrite, to locate fossils. Our team was able to successfully and safely utilize computed radiography’s benefits over traditional methods to complete the August project. By using CR, our experts were able to provide digital images that clearly displayed the fossils and helped American Paleo discover the fossils for uncomplicated excavation.
By knowing exactly where the fossils were located the client was able to reduce and save thousands of hours chiseling. By reducing the hours dedicated to the project the client was able to increase productivity and profit margins. In addition, the digital images allowed for precision chiseling reducing the damage to the fossils substantially.
The whole project was supported by our Cincinnati branch and included three expert technicians who conducted the inspection.
Acuren is pleased to be part of these amazing fossil findings and we look forward to working in this new space further.
