Our employees are exposed to risks each day. They work at different sites with various rules and systems. They work in hazardous environments including heights, confined spaces, radiation zones, harsh weather, and severe driving conditions. It is incumbent upon Acuren to create a safety culture with standards of behavior that keep our employees and your business safe.
We believe all incidents are preventable and that every employee has both a right and an obligation to support safe operations.
Beyond the foundation for safety
The foundation for safety in the industries we support is based on three standards:
Employ technicians that are trained, safety certified, responsible, and empowered
Use approved and properly deployed personal protective equipment
Consistently follow correct and current safety procedures
To improve our safety performance and develop a stronger culture, Acuren has gone beyond this foundation.
Custom safety systems and audits
We have added job hazard analysis with frequent audits, timely reporting and corrective actions for all incidents and ensure effective use of compliance audits and safety metrics. We employ in-house safety professionals who work with clients to develop and deploy site-specific safety practices, systems, and emergency preparedness plans.
We have developed a strong relationship and level of reciprocal trust with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
Driver safety programs
Acuren has an approved driver program based on training (100% of our drivers have been through the Smith Driver program), review of driver abstracts, road testing, and performance. We have installed GPS systems in all vehicles to monitor speed and vehicle location and to ensure compliance with our vehicle policy.
Leadership in safety
Through these efforts, supplemented by management attention and investment, we have built a reputation as a company that provides leadership in safety, and we observe continuous improvement in our safety performance. Amongst countless safety awards, Acuren has been recognized by Syncrude Canada Limited with the President’s Award for safety on numerous occasions. As a result of our proactive approach to developing a strong safety culture we have seen our injury frequency improve year-over-year for the last 10 years.
Together, our managers and our staff are ensuring that we live up to our commitment and our culture of “Each employee home safely, every day.”
